Like a Magic 8-Ball!

Q: Can anyone be surprised that the adult entertainment industry, historically proven to take on any all technological advancements, would appear in/at a document posting service?

A: Apparently so.

Q: Does spam really work?

A: What would you say?. (PS: Thanks, Sara, for the link!)

On the first question: Sound business is sound business, right? If it works, it should be adaptable for everyone.

On the second question: I was amazed to read that. I can't believe THAT many people actually open that crap, let alone click the links. Would it be wrong to ask if the majority of the clicks were from men? No offense to them, of course.

I've always assumed anyone who has to spam that way is pushing a sub-standard product. Isn't that why (besides the annoyance factor) spam shouldn't work?

Hi Sara,

As I mentioned at Spin Thicket, I'm mixed on the spam decision...

I hate spam (and with my contact info 'everywhere' I get lots of it) but notice how they targeted 'obscenity' again... Methinks (fears) this is yet another stab at obscenity laws (and persecution).

As for why it works, it's a pure numbers game. And, lets be honest, a person sitting at home sifting through their email might spy something they hadn't decided to search for ~ be it smut or drugs or a purse ~ but is now prompted to do it. Mostly this is a case of them remembering their interest. Which is why newsletters in email inboxes can be so wonderful. It's a reminder. Sure, not every newsletter (or spam email) is opened, but if you have a big enough list (subscribers or not) you're bound to get enough people to bite/click ~ and it's low cost to send (vs paper).
